AI is an innovative tool that will help us perform certain SEO tasks .  It is far from a complete solution to replace tasks needed to do SEO.   It is not a solution for creative and helpful content, but it good at helping identify topics and talking points in an article.

How does Chatgpt work?

Chatgpt is a great tool and revolutionary. Chatpgt works by aggregating data that was crawled from the Internet, and absorbing as much content as possible. The data it absorbed could be incorrect or contain bad information and shouldn't be a reliable source of information.  Recently a lawyer tried to use it to research case law and is now in trouble by providing bad information to the courts.

It is then optimized for dialogue with human feedback. They created a reward model with comparison data ranked by AI trainers so that the AI could learn the best response. Obviously, that isn't very scalable or consistent.  Duplicate content becomes an issue as well. Google will devalue and penalize sites with duplicate content.

Chatgpt, is it useful?

We have been using it internally to help build topics and ideas for our writers' content. It reduces the time that we spend doing research however we always check for accuracy. It has been amazing to test the different things it can do. I feel the content can improve over time, and we will continue to test it as it evolves.

Google's helpful content update

Google released an update that will analyze content to determine if it is helpful and useful. I love this update as it will help remove spam from the Internet and only value quality content. It is also designed to filter out AI content that could clutter the Internet and search results with useless information.

What message do we give our writers?

We have a team of contract and in-house writers. Part of our QA check is to look for AI written content. It is easy to tell if AI wrote the content by the quality. Employees or contractors who are found to use AI content will be fired immediately. We do encourage using chatgpt for research only.
